Scooby Wright III Earns National CFPA

 TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright III has been named the College Football Performance Awards National Linebacker of the Year, it was announced on Wednesday.

The CFPA is in its seventh year of player and team performance recognition. Wright is the second Arizona player to earn CFPA honors, following 2012 CFPA Running Back Trophy winner Ka'Deem Carey.

Wright finished the season with 163 tackles, including a nation's best 29 tackles for loss. He also forced six fumbles, the most in the FBS this season. He returns next season as a junior with 246 career tackles, 38.5 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles and one interception.

Wright was named to all five of the required All-America teams to earn unanimous All-America honors. He is Arizona's first unanimous All-American since cornerback Chris McAlister in 1998.

The Pat Tillman Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, he also earned first-team All-America honors from USA Today, SB Nation, CBSSports.com, Scout.com, and SI.com. Wright was also named National Defensive Player of the Year by SB Nation, CBSports.com, Scout.com, and CBSSports.com, Scout.com and Athlon Sports.

For fans looking to become new season ticket holders, deposits are currently being accepted for the 2015 football season. Deposits are $50 per seat and seat locations are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Current season ticket holders will receive renewal information later this month.
