TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Rob Gronkowski is not the only Wildcat connection Sunday in Super Bowl XLIX.
Ben Hulka and Gronk were on the UA Football practice field at the same time during the Mike Stoops era however on different sides of the ball; Gronk wrecking havoc on opposing defensive as a tight end and Hulka assisting the defense as a student equipment manager.
Hulka, also known as Hulk, graduated from UA and started his NFL career with the Cardinals in 2012 before moving on to the Seahawks where he is in second season as an equipment intern on Pete Carroll's staff.
Equipment is in the Hulka family business. His dad is a transporter for the PGA Tour and it was UA golf alum Jim Furyk ('96) who recommended Hulka to Wildcats equipment chief Wendell Neal upon his arrival in the Old Pueblo.
Hulka as you can imagine was off-limits this past week but our David Kelly caught up with Neal to get some background on the UA kid who is now making a life of what Neal calls being a "professional servant."
