McLaughlin and Fernander Named to All-ACCAC and All-Region Teams

TUCSON, AZ - The Arizona Community College Athletic Conference recognized two Pima Community College women's basketball players on Wednesday as the All-ACCAC Conference and All-Region I teams were released.

Sophomore guard/forward Melody McLaughlin (Mountain View HS) was selected Second Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region I, Division II. She averaged around 14 points and seven rebounds throughout the year while playing and starting in all 30 games. McLaughlin was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week four times and once named NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week

Freshman forward Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) was named Third Team All-ACCAC and Second Team All-Region I, Division II. She played in all 30 games and made 27 starts. Fernander averaged about 12 points and seven rebounds per game and was twice named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week.

The Aztecs finished the regular season at 17-13 and 14-8 in ACCAC Conference play. They clinched the No. 1 seed for the Region I, Division II Tournament and will host No. 4 Phoenix College in the semifinals at the West Campus. The game is on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
