No Thorn in their side

 Tucson, Ariz. – On Wednesday, the University of Arizona women's soccer team announced on Wednesday that they will play in a match against the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). The match will take place at the Kino Sports Complex on Saturday, March 28. As part of the Thorns' preseason training and Arizona's spring schedule, the match will be hosted by FC Tucson and will begin at 7:30 p.m. MST.

Arizona will also compete against UTEP on March 29 at Mulcahy Stadium at 1 p.m. MST. On April 4, the Wildcats will face off against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at 2 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium. The team will head to San Diego for the weekend of April 11 to compete against the University of San Diego and Cal State Fullerton. The details of those matches have yet to be determined.

It was a historic season for the Wildcats; their 11 wins are tied for the second-best total in school history. It is the second-straight winning season for Amato and his staff in their second year at Arizona. The 2014 squad is only the third team to make it to the NCAA Tournament in program history. Kaufman began the season tied for fourth place in school history with nine shutouts for her career. She recorded seven in the fall of 2014, bringing her total to 16, the second-highest tally in UA history. Kaufman's seven shutouts on the season is the No. 3 mark in program history as well. Stoian is one of only six athletes in school history to record a hat trick in a match. Her 13 goals on the year are tied for the second-best mark in program history for goals in a season. She has tallied 33 points on the season, the second-best total in UA history. Stoian's seven assists this season rank as the third-best total in school history.
