TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The first step for students was to get their voices heard about the new Arizona budget that slashes education funding again. A meeting today is the second step for students, to discuss future strategies.
On Monday, University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and high school students all came together to protest these latest cuts. According to state officials another $99 million was cut from university budgets and funding for PCC was cut altogether. This makes a total of $200 million in cuts for UA.
Students are worried about their future and if this means tuition hikes, they are also worried about the future of the state, as budget cuts hit the largest district in Southern Arizona hard as well.
Tonight TUSD will be holding its weekly meeting at TUSD headquarters, beginning at 6 p.m.
