Omni National preps for pro golf

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

We are just one week away from the return of professional golf here in Tucson.

The Champions Tour hits Omni Tucson National Monday for a week-long event to include practice rounds, a Pro-Am tournament, parties, plenty of TVs to watch the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and of course the three-day 54-hole Conquistadores Classic which will feature 81 of the games greats.

Tom Lehman was in Tucson Tuesday to preview the event.

He's an eight-time winner on the Champions Tour after winning five events during his PGA Tour career.

Lehman was one of the designers of the Gallery Golf Club in Marana and helped reconstruct two of the holes at Omni National.

He says fans will see low scores and lots of birdies next week.

The Champions Tour features professional golfers over the age of 50.
