Tucson JCC’s Martin Reichgott Selected to Coach in Pan American Maccabi Games

- Tucson Jewish Community Center (The Tucson J) Head Swim Coach Martin Reichgott has been selected to the staff of the U.S. delegation for the 13


Pan American Maccabi Games, December 26-January 5,

in Santiago, Chile. Reichgott will be the lead swim coach for the Youth division, for athletes born in 1997-98, and is one of three coaches for the team. The entire U.S. delegation is projected to be 600 athletes in 19 sports for the quadrennial event.

Reichgott became aware of the event through his work with Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA) on raising awareness for competitive swimming in JCCs, and was selected after interviewing with executives at Maccabi USA, the sponsors of Team USA, and with a veteran member of the swimming staff.

“I am very excited about this opportunity. Physical and emotional development is a big part of the JCC mission, and I am looking forward to bringing back the experiences to Tucson.”

Reichgott is now in his third year at the Tucson J, where the team has seen more than 30% growth since he started. The Stingrays recently finished 5th at Arizona Senior State Championships, its highest team finish ever, and 8th at 14 & Under Championships, out of 36 teams. He is currently the Coaches' Representative to the Board of Arizona Swimming, as well as co-chair of the Diversity Committee.

Maccabi USA, based in Philadelphia, is a volunteer organization focused on enriching Jewish pride and identity through sports. In addition to the Pan American Games, they sponsor the USA Team to the world Maccabi Games, as well as support the JCC Maccabi Games throughout the United States.
