Arizona's Nancy Bowling to take a leave of absence

Tucson, Ariz.- Arizona softball junior pitcher Nancy Bowling will be taking a leave of absence while receiving treatment for a medical issue.

"Although we will miss Nancy's presence on our team, her health and well-being are our first priority and we know that she will be in good hands during this absence," said head coach Mike Candrea. "We look forward to her return."

Bowling, who has appeared in 16 games this season, is 2-0 on the season with a 4.79 ERA. The junior is the team's active leader in career strikeouts with 179.

Arizona begins Pac-12 play on Friday, beginning a three-game series at California.
