TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

T.J. McConnell's four assists in Thursday's 93-72 win over Texas Southern in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament moved him past UA assistant coach Damon Stoudamire ('95) and into 3rd place all-time for dishes in a single season.

In his first year on the court in the Pac-12, T.J. McConnell handed out 202 assists, good for sixth on Arizona's single-season chart.

His current total of 424 leads active Pac-12 players despite the fact that McConnell has played only 73 games at a Pac-12 institution (5.8/game). He currently leads the Pac-12 with an average of 6.3 assists per game.

In his tenure at Arizona, the Wildcats are 47-3 (.940) when McConnell records at least five assists in a game.

He needs just nine more assist to surpass Reggie Geary ('96) for 2nd place.

Russell Brown ('81) is Arizona's all-time assist leader for both a career (810) and season (247).
