Hernandez, Alfonso and Fabing Selected All-Conference

 Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College softball team received recognition from the ACCAC Conference as it released its All-ACCAC and All-Region teams on Tuesday.

Sophomores Jackie Hernandez (Desert Ridge HS), Alexis Alfonso (Canyon del Oro HS) and Taylor Fabing were selected All-ACCAC. Hernandez and Alfonso were named to the All-Region I, Division II team. They helped lead the Aztecs to a 44-12 overall record, a 37-11 conference record and the No. 2 seed for the Region I, Division II tournament.

Hernandez, a second baseman, was named First Team All-ACCAC. She led the team in batting average (.448), RBIs (51), hits (81) and triples (6) in 54 games played. She was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 23 – Mar. 1.

Alfonso, a pitcher, was selected Second Team All-ACCAC. She threw 197.1 innings with a 26-5 record and a 3.08 ERA. She started 32 games and had 23 complete-games. Alfonso finished second in the ACCAC Division II and NJCAA Division II in wins (26) behind Phoenix College's Kennedy Garcia. She was named ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week three times.

Fabing, a first baseman, was named Third Team All-ACCAC as she led the Aztecs in home runs (9), doubles (15) and walks (34). Fabing had a .350 batting average with 50 RBIs in 53 games. She was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 30 – Apr. 5.

The Aztecs will compete in the Region I, Division II Tournament at Phoenix College. They begin the double elimination tournament on Friday against No. 3 seed South Mountain Community College at 10:00 a.m.
