Overnight weekend restrictions on I-19 off ramp at Valencia - Tucson News Now

Overnight weekend restrictions on I-19 off ramp at Valencia

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Interstate 19 drivers will see restrictions on Sunday and Monday of next week, while crews continue construction on a popular off-ramp.

Arizona Department of Transportation crews will complete final lane striping on the newly constructed Valencia Road off-ramp from I-19.

Intermittent lane closures will slow drivers on Sunday and Monday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. However, one lane will remain open on the ramp while this work takes place.

The ramp was expanded from two to three travel lanes last year, in order to ease backup and congestion on the heavily used exit ramp.

This is part of a $1.7 million dollar improvement project.

The four-mile stretch from mile marker 209 to 213 will be extended to three lanes in each direction, creating more room on the freeway for drivers like Lisa McCombs. “That would be fantastic, she said. “Traffic gets pretty bad through here especially on the weekends.”
