Select campgrounds north of Phoenix close for the summer

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Some of the more remote sites on the Cave Creek Ranger District will close for the summer.  The following sites will be closed from May 15 to October 1, 2015:  Mesquite Campground, Horseshoe Campground, and Fisherman Point (also known as Catfish Point).  The Tonto National Forest does not currently have the ability to maintain these sites in a safe and sanitary condition.

Alternative sites for camping are Riverside Campground, Box Bar, Bartlett Flats, SB Cove and CCC campground. The trail to the river above Fisherman Point remains open, and the public can continue to fish along the river.
