Midfielder Luis Martinez Named to the Premier Development League's Team of the Week

May 20, 2015, Tucson, AZ

--- FC Tucson midfielder Luis Martinez earned a spot in the Premier Development League's Team of the Week.

The Chico State graduate played all 90 minutes in Saturday's victory over Ventura County Fusion. In the 60th minute, Martinez was shoved to the ground,  left of the Ventura goal; the position from which he would take the game winning free kick. A hooking strike would go untouched, bounce at the feet of Ventura's goalkeeper, ricochet off the soft grass, over the keeper's gloves and into the back of the net.

Martinez' goal would secure FC Tucson's 2-1 victory, and provide a welcome boost after the club's recent U.S. Open Cup elimination.  The win also provided a measure of redemption as Ventura County was the only team to beat FC Tucson at Kino North Stadium in the 2014 regular season.

The full team of the week selection, including honorable mentions, is set forth below.  FC Tucson's goalkeeper,  Dallas Jaye , and Defender, Sebastian Pineda, were honorable mentions.  FC Tucson's next match, against BYU Cougars, is Saturday, May 23, at 7:30PM at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, AZ.
