TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - They are now the FC Tucson Women.
The futbol side formally known as Tucson Soccer Academy FC will open their 3rd Women's Premier Soccer League season this weekend with a pair of road games in Southern California.
TSAFC after a breakout 1st since in 2012 struggled in the much more competitive Pacific South Division last season.
The side finished 3-7-2 with just 11 points and in fifth place in the seven team division.
The Pacific South is made up of team's from the soccer-rich Southern California region.
TSAFC played their initial season in the Big Sky North division against the Phoenix Del Sol and three teams from Utah.
There they finished in first place with a record of 7-1-1.
The club moved to the Southern California division last season after two of the teams in the Big Sky folded.
FC Tucson Women will play matches Saturday and Sunday against So. California FC and L.A. Villa FC.
The ladies side will not play doubleheaders this season with the FC Tucson Men. The two clubs have instead setup their schedules so each is home on alternating weekends, meaning there will be futbol at Kino North Stadium every weekend for the next eight weeks.
