Road Recovery continues on 6th Street in midtown

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Midtown drivers should look for construction as they head out the door this week, while crews improve two portions of Sixth Street.

Lane closures should be in place on Sixth Street between Ferro Avenue and Park Avenue just west of The University of Arizona. Roadwork will also impact commuters just east of campus, on Sixth Street between Campbell Avenue and Country Club Road.

The work hours for both portions of this project will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday of this week, while workers fog seal the area.

'Fog Sealing' is a road maintenance method, known as a liquid asphalt application put in place to prevent normal wear and tear.

Lane closures should stay active for the duration of this construction, but one lane will always remain open in each direction, according to City of Tucson officials. Businesses and homes should always be accessible, unless heavy equipment is parked in front of a driveway.

This is part of Road Recovery, the $100 million, five-year street bond program funded by voter-approved bonds. For more information on Road Recovery, visit this website www.tucsonaz.gov/streetbonds.
