Road preservation kicks off on Tucson's south & east sides

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Pima County construction workers will start projects to preserve two Southern Arizona roads in the coming

Tuesday, June 9, Pima County Department of Transportation crews will chip seal and micro seal Palo Verde Road between 44th Street and Alvernon Way. This includes the Veteran's Memorial Overpass. (The red, white and blue bridge over Aviation Parkway.)

Micro sealing and chip sealing are both ways to preserve asphalt and remedy a wide range of road problems.

Crews will also repave the intersection of Palo Verde Road and 37th Street during this time frame.

Workers will perform similar work on the east side next week, specifically on Sabino Canyon Road between Kolb Road and River Road. This starts on Monday, June 16 and will also end on June 26.

All of this work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both projects should wrap up by June 26.

Look for lane closures, slower speeds and flaggers on scene to guide drivers through the area.

Always remember to slow down and drive carefully in all construction zones. Look out for workers and equipment at all times.
