The Latest: Construction continues on Magee Road this week

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Pima County crews have started the final phase of construction along Magee Road on Tucson's northwest side.

Crews will begin paving the eastbound lanes of Magee Road on Thursday of this week. This will specifically take place between La Canada Drive and Northern Avenue. Paving activities should continue through next week.

This new portion of construction shouldn't impact current travel lanes, unless workers have to move heavy equipment through the area.

Pima County Department of Transportation will also continue curb installation along Magee Road, between Oracle Road and La Canada Drive. Look for extra delays through the construction zone while this happens.

Signal installation is also ongoing at the intersection of Oracle Road and Magee Road. Because of this, drivers should expect lane closures on both the north and southbound sides of Oracle Road.

This work is all part of a long term improvement project. The project should wrap up by fall of this year.

Drivers headed towards the Ina Road and I-10 interchange need to budget a little extra time into their drive because construction crews are re-routing westbound traffic on Ina Road to the southern side of the new divided roadway.
