Four women’s basketball players continue careers at four-year schools

Four sophomores from the 2014-15 women's basketball team found new homes and signed their national letters of intent.

Melody McLaughlin (Mountain View HS), a forward, signed her national letter of intent in May to Newman University, an NCAA Division II school in Wichita, KS. McLaughlin was selected second-team All-ACCAC and first-team All-Region I, Division II. She was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week four times during the season. McLaughlin started and played in all 31 games for the Aztecs as she averaged 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

Alexa Arndt (Sabino HS), a center, signed her letter of intent to play at San Diego Christian College, an NAIA school in Santee, CA. She played in 29 games this season coming off the bench. Arndt averaged 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 12 minutes a game.

Adrianna Barrientez (Palo Verde HS), a guard, signed her national letter of intent to Bethany College, an NAIA school in Lindsborg, KS. Barrientez played in 29 games and made 10 starts at point guard. She averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 assists in 13 minutes per game.

Jayla Brown (Desert Vista HS), a guard, signed her letter of intent to play for Western New Mexico University, an NCAA Division II school in Silver City, NM in April. She played in all 31 games and made 11 starts at shooting guard. Brown averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16 minutes of play per game.

The 2015-16 women's basketball season begins in October.?
