PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) - Paul Goldschmidt is going to the All-Star game for a 3rd straight season.
He was announced Sunday as the National League's starter at first base for the contest on July 14 in Cincinnati.
At the mid-point of this 2015 campaign Goldschmidt has 20 home runs and 15 stolen bases, which means if his current pace continues he'll become the first 30-30 player in Arizona Diamondbacks history.
Right now his numbers project out to 40 home runs and 30 stolen bases.
It certainly won't be an easy accomplishment but the fact that Goldschmidt has 15 stolen bases at this point of the season stands out.
He's shown a decent ability to steal bases in his first three full big league seasons but never at this 2015 rate.
His career-high in steals was 18 in 2012 and he swiped 15 bases in 2013.
If Goldschmidt can do it he would be just the third 1st baseman (Joe Carter and Jeff Bagwell) to do so and the first since Jeff Bagwell in 1999.
