TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Ian Kinsler hit just his 3rd home run of the season Thursday in a 4-2 Detroit win over Minnesota.
The Canyon del Oro High School '00 product added a clutch go-ahead RBI double in 8th that missed being his second home run of the game by inches.
The drive off Twins starter Mike Pelfrey bounced off the top of the wall.
Kinsler finished the game with three RBI.
The numbers show a severe dip in power this season for the 33-year old.
Kinsler has just three home runs and 37 RBI in 84 games. He's projecting a season of six home runs and 70 runs batted in.
The home runs would be a career-low and the RBI the least he's driven in since his second full (non-injury) season in 2007 (61).
Kinsler at one point this season was at least hitting for average. He held a .318 batting clip on May 18, but since then has hit just .216.
There is a hint that Kinsler might be finding his stroke. He's 11-of-32 (.343) at the plate over his last eight games.
