TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - East side drivers can expect slow and go along 22nd Street, as construction for another portion of Road Recovery continues.
Tucson Department of Transportation will improve pavement on 22nd Street between Kolb Road and Sarnoff Road through the week of August 17, 2015.
Crews are currently repaving 22nd Street between Kolb Road and Pantano Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The repaving work on this section of 22nd Street is scheduled to be complete on Sunday, August 2, 2015. No paving work will take place on Friday, July 31, 2015 and Saturday, August 1, 2015.
Beginning on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, crews will mill (remove asphalt) and repave 22nd Street from Pantano Road to Sarnoff Drive. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The repaving work on this section of 22nd Street is scheduled to be complete on Thursday, August 13, 2015.
Following the repaving work, crews will raise manhole covers and water valve covers level with the new asphalt surface. The utility adjustment work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with 24 hour lane closures to allow concrete to properly cure.
Construction workers will perform utility adjustments during the weeks of August 10 and August 17.
At least one lane will remain open at all times during the project. Access to residences and businesses should remain open at all times during this project, unless heavy equipment is parked in front of a driveway.
This construction is part of "Road Recovery," a $100 million, five-year street bond program. Road Recovery is funded by voter bonds.
Drivers should plan for slower speeds and delays while heading through the area.
