Road on northwest side closed for paving

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

As Pima County crews continue phase three of a northwest side widening project, a portion of Northern Avenue will close to traffic.

Southbound Northern Avenue will shut down between Magee Road and Placita Campo De Adobes between July 16 and July 31, according to a Pima County press release.

While this closure is in place, construction workers will pulverize the asphalt. This is a process which removes old asphalt, recycles it and lays it down as new road. They will also install new signals, adjust manhole covers and improve the landscaping.

Local traffic (those who live and work in the area) will be allowed through while the project takes place.

A three way stop will also be in place at Northern Avenue and Magee Road, to help with traffic flow.

Under the program, the city will choose several large intersections to become protected left. That means left turns would be made only on a green arrow.
