D'backs welcome UA's Coach Jay

PHOENIX - For the second time in less than a week, an Arizona Wildcats head coach was a guest of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

New Wildcats Baseball coach Jay Johnson threw out the first pitch Wednesday night prior to the club's 5-3 home loss to the Miami Marlins.

Johnson's catcher on the pitch was D'backs manager Chip Hale, an infielder on the Wildcats 1986 National Championship team.

Arizona Football coach Rich Rodriguez spent time at Chase Field on Friday night where he chatted with baseball operations chief Tony LaRussa and made an appearance on the Diamondbacks TV pregame show.

Johnson before the game chatted in the Diamondbacks dugout with World Series hero Luis Gonzalez and current all-star slugger Paul Goldschmidt.
