UA hoopsters bringing the game back to Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Arizona Basketball alum and current Indiana Pacers forward Solomon Hill ('13) returned to Tucson this week to offer a week-long basketball camp for both boys and girls ages 12-to-18.

Hill was a coach at Joseph Blair's (UA '96) summer basketball camp while attending the University of Arizona and his participation inspired him to give back to a community that has supported him throughout his career.

Hill sought out Blair to assist with the camp and Blair Charity Group worked with local nonprofit organizations to provide scholarships to cover the cost for 70% of the campers.

Special guest coaches this week have included New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams (UA Basketball Class of 2012), current Wildcats hoopsters Gabe York and Parker Jackson-Cartwright and UA Women's Basketball alums Alli Gloyd and Candice Warthen.

Hill's camp is the first of two chances Southern Arizona youngsters have this summer  to learn the game from UA Basketball alumni now playing in the NBA.

Nick Johnson (UA '14) announced this week he has partnered with Blair Charity Group to hold a two-day clinic at Desert View High School in late August (29th-30th).

Johnson's camp will be open to players ages 9-to-13 on Saturday the 29th and 14-to-18 on Sunday the 30th.
