Mavs sign Ashley

Dallas, TX (KOLD) - Brandon Ashley's effort in Summer League paid off.

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that the former Wildcat forward signed a contract after spending the month playing summer ball on the Atlanta Hawks roster. Ashley averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in seven games with Atlanta. Terms were not disclosed though the website www.realgm.com reported it is a partially guaranteed, multi-year deal.

Now Ashley has a chance to make Dallas' final roster though he'll be competing with Jamil Wilson. The Mavericks, who already have 14 under contract not including 1st round pick Justin Anderson, will need to cut the roster down to 15 before the Mavericks open the season.
