LOS ANGELES, CA - Mike Bercovici's time is now.
The Arizona State Football program is putting their season in the hands of a 5th year senior. Mike Bercovici has patiently been waiting to get his chance to take command of the huddle in Tempe.
He's played in just seven games in those five years but he opened eyes last season when he stepped in for injured starter Taylor Kelly and led the Sun Devils to two wins.
The first start of his career came in Week 4 against UCLA and the 6-foot-1 quarterback set school records in both attempts and completions.
He then went on the following week to throw for 510 yards and five touchdowns, including a game-winning Hail Mary to Jaelen Strong to beat USC on the road.
In his final start during that stretch, he helped the Sun Devils avenge their 2014 Pac-12 title game loss to Stanford.
Bercovici finished the year with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions.
The redshirt-senior knows the offense runs through him and thus ASU will only go as far as he can take them. It's an opportunity he has waited for patiently since arriving in Tempe and looks to be one that will not be wasted.
