Nogales seniors look for league's 2nd world title

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

They can play baseball in Nogales. That’s for sure.

The Nogales Little League Seniors will open play at the World Series in Bangor, Maine on Sunday looking to become the first Southern Arizona team to win a world championship in that division of the league’s organization.

Nogales has rolled through the post-season with an 11-1 record, winning most of those games with relative ease.

They outscored opponents in the District 8 and state tournaments by a combined score of 72-11.

They’ll try to bring home a trophy just one-year removed from the city’s Little League Intermediate team winning the World Series.

It was the first ever world title for Nogales Little League.

Nogales’ Juniors squad is also still alive and will begin play in the West Regional tournament August 6 in Vancouver, Washington.
