More overnight restrictions on I-10 Thursday and Friday

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Highway drivers can expect more delays for striping and maintenance work this week; this time on eastbound I-10. 

First, Arizona Department of Transportation crews will begin maintenance repair work on eastbound I-10 between Alvernon Way and Valencia Road. This kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday August 7. It should continue through about midnight.

While this takes place, construction crews will reduce speeds to 55 miles per hour and close one of two lanes on the eastbound side of I-10. Travelers should expect delays.

Construction will also snarl traffic overnight on eastbound I-10 between 29th Street and Kino Parkway on Thursday, August 7 and Friday, August 8. Here, ADOT crews will restripe lanes on the highway from 9 p.m. through about 5 a.m. 

The eastbound I-10 on-ramps from 29th Street and Park Avenue will close for construction here. The interstate will also funnel down to one lane from three in the area. During this time, drivers can use 22nd Street, 6th Avenue or Kino Parkway to enter eastbound I-10.

    Traffic Detectives with the Tucson Police Department are investigating a fatal vehicle collision near Alvernon and N. Ajo Way.
