TUCSON, AZ -

Pope Francis is scheduled to visit the El Paso-Juarez area during the third week of February.

In September 2015, Pope Francis toured Washington, New York and Philadelphia as part of a five-day trip to the United States.

It was the 10th time a pope made an apostolic journey to the United States.

The following is a list of Papal visits to America, according to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

• October 1965: Paul VI visited Washington and New York.

• Oct. 1-7, 1979: Pope John Paul II visited Boston; New York; Philadelphia; Chicago; Washington and Des Moines, Iowa.

• Feb. 27, 1981: Pope John Paul II visited Anchorage, Alaska.

• May 2, 1984: Pope John Paul II visited Fairbanks, Alaska.

• Sept. 10-19, 1987: Pope John Paul II visited Miami; Columbia, S.C.; New Orleans; San Antonio; Phoenix; Los Angeles; San Francisco and Detroit.

• Aug. 12-15, 1993: Pope John Paul II visited Denver.

• Oct. 4-8, 1995: Pope John Paul II visited Newark, N.J.; New York; Brooklyn and Baltimore.

• Jan. 26-27, 1999: Pope John Paul II visited St. Louis.

• April 15-20, 2008: Pope Benedict XVI visited Washington and New York.

• Sept. 22-27, 2015: Pope Francis visited Washington, New York and Philadelphia.
