Construction delays start on a new part of Silverbell Road

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now/AP) -

Drivers should look out for a paving project along Silverbell Road beginning August 10, according to a Pima County press release.

Pima County Department of Transportation crews will pave Silverbell Road between Goret Road and Ina Road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. While this takes place, pilot vehicles and flaggers will direct travelers through the construction. Expect delays here.

In preparation for this overlay, the Town of Marana recently installed what they call a "Stress Absorbing Membrane" surface on Silverbell from Ina Road to Sunset Road. This will act as an asphalt sealant and prevent premature pavement cracking.

Pima County officials said they plan to perform additional overlay on other segments of Silverbell Road as well.

Always remember to drive slowly in this and any cone zone. Look out for construction workers and equipment.
