TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - NASA is heading back to Mars, and you can send your name on the journey.
According to NASA, submitting your name also signs you up for "frequent-flier" points. You will receive notifications on how you can participate in future NASA missions to Mars, giving you an opportunity to obtain more points.
InSight is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, in March 2016 and land on Mars in September later that year. The lander will measure seismic activity on the Red Planet.
The spacecraft will also be equipped with a "self-hammering heat probe", which will burrow beneath the surface. This research aims to improve understanding of how rocky planets, like Mars and Earth are formed and evolve over time.
