ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Hamilton Huskies came to Tucson Friday night and showed everyone why they're one of, if not the best team in the state of Arizona.
The seven-time state champions beat Ironwood Ridge 44-7 in a match-up of teams that won the 2012 Division I and II state football titles.
The Huskies (1-0), who have been to 12 state championship games in the last 14 seasons built a 30-0 first half lead.
Senior quarterback Travis Lockhart threw touchdown passes to Donovhan Ross and Kaleb Pitts while Austin Lowe ran for a score.
The Huskies got three points on a 38-yard field goal by Dylan Brown.
Hamilton's Kyeler Burke intercepted the final pass of the first half and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. He appeared to fumble the ball before reaching the goal line but the officials ruled it a score.
Former Hamilton High student Harrison Beemiller scored the Nighthawks only touchdown on a 68-yard 3rd quarter run.
Ironwood Ridge (0-1) gets another stiff test next week at home when Mesa Westwood comes to town.
