Popular midtown intersection gets overnight facelift

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Midtown drivers should avoid the intersection of Country Club and Sixth Street Monday night, as crews give the area a facelift.

City of Tucson crews will begin milling this  intersection at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 24. This process will continue until about 9 p.m. Milling involves removing old pavement.

Workers will then repave the same area from 3:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25. Drivers should avoid this spot for the duration of the improvement project.

Two alternate options include Speedway Boulevard or Tucson Boulevard.

This construction is part of the Country Club Road - Speedway Boulevard to Aviation Parkway resurfacing project. It's part of the $100 million, five year street bond program, Road Recovery.

Road Recovery is funded by voter approved bonds. For more information, visit https://www.tucsonaz.gov/street-bonds.
