Ina safety improvements prompt long term delays

MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Marana drivers need to prepare for long term construction delays on Ina Road beginning this Thursday, according to a press release.

The Town of Marana is working to improve overall safety and efficiency along Ina Road, between Thornydale Road and Meredith Boulevard. This will include increasing the length and width of turn lanes in the area as well as the addition of designated bicycle lanes.

Crews will also build a sidewalk along the south side of Ina Road, to accommodate the nearby bus stop. Workers will update pedestrian quadrants at intersections in the area.

The first phase of this project will take place on eastbound Ina Road, from the northwest corner of the Target shopping center to Meredith Boulevard. It will force the right turn lane from Ina Road onto Thornydale Road to close.

The cone zone will also prompt the closure of several driveways adjacent to Ina Road. Town of Marana officials will set up business access detours in the area.

Construction crews will work here from about 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Travelers should plan for restrictions and delays while headed through the stretch.

The work should completely wrap up in about three months.
