Road improvement work set to start in two Tucson areas

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

City of Tucson crews are set to begin road improvement work for the next two weeks on the north and south sides of the city.

Tucson Department of Transportation crews will fog seal Fort Lowell Road between Campbell Avenue and Oracle Road from Monday, September 21 to Thursday, September 24. The overnight work hours will span from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Workers will then move to Campbell Avenue, between Benson Highway and Valencia Road between Monday, September 28 and Thursday, October 1. The work hours here will also last from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Fog sealing is a thin layer of asphalt applied to existing pavement. It helps cover small roadway imperfections, cracks, or other small voids on the road. It's meant to preserve and protect.

This schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions, but drivers should plan for lane closures and delays while driving though this and any other construction zone in Southern Arizona.
