GREEN VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A road improvement project is set to kick off in Green Valley this week, according to an Arizona Department of Transportation press release.
ADOT crews are constructing multi-use lanes on Esparanza Boulevard, near its intersections with La Canada Drive and Abrego Drive near Interstate 19. The work hours are set to take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, so drivers should expect lane closures and slow speeds in this time frame.
One lane of traffic should remain open while this roadwork happens. The project should not impact local business or pedestrian access in the area.
The $263,232 plan will also include the following:
- Narrowing medians to provide sufficient space for two traffic lanes and the multi-use lanes
- Adding roadway striping to designate the multi-use lane and adjusting pavement markings on the roadway
- Construction of continuous sidewalks that meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on both sides of Esperanza Boulevard
- Replacing existing roadway signs.
The federally funded project was made possible by a Pima County Grant. It should wrap up by January 2016.
