Chuck wears NASCAR crown

VAIL, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season closed out last Saturday night at Tucson Speedway with veteran Chuck Wares getting his first points championship in the Super Late Model division.

Wares, a three-time champion in the Late Model Division the last time Tucson Speedway ran races under the NASCAR umbrella, edged out fellow veterans Joe Paladenic and Paul Banghart and Rookie of the Year Vanessa Robinson, who won three of the nine races this season.

Wares seven Top 5 finishes as well as points compiled in heat races in the end was the separator.

The final race of the season was won by Mariah McGriff. It was the first main even victory of her three-year career at Tucson Speedway.

Late Model Winner - Brian Harrington Jr.
Bomber Winner - James West
