Family remembers man killed in rollover accident

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Michael "Mikey" Anthony Vanbogaert, 19, was killed in a rollover accident on Thursday evening.

Vanbogaert and his girlfriend, Angelica Cedillo, just had a child about two months ago. Cedillo said their child, Layla, was his world.
Cedillo said she got the tragic news about Vanbogaert's accident and death at about 9:30 on Thursday, when police officers came to their apartment.

"My heart fell into my stomach. And I was just waiting for him to come home and walk through the door and it wasn't going to happen. I didn't know what to do. I panicked. I didn't know what to say," Cedillo said.

Vanbogaert was sitting in the passenger seat of a pick up truck when the driver lost control in the rain. The truck hit a median and a tree, and rolled over.  Vanbogaert wasn't wearing a seat belt when the accident happened. The driver of the pickup only suffered minor injuries.

"I know he's watching us. And he's with us and he's watching over our daughter every day," Cedillo said.

She said Vanbogaert touched lives of many outside of their family. And others should live life with the same enthusiasm as he did.

"Love everybody and cherish every moment you have with everybody. Because you never know if they're coming home. Because he was like that. He stopped and smelled the roses and he enjoyed life. And he enjoyed the little things in life," Cedillo said.

There is a Go Fund Me page set up by the family.
