COCHISE COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Construction on a low water crossing has temporarily closed down Rucker Canyon Road in the Chiricahua Mountains. Crews will work to reconstruct the crossing that was washed away by a flood from Hurricane Odile some 13 months ago.
The closure began on Monday, Nov. 16, and is expected to last for the rest of the week. Rucker Canyon Road is also known as National Forest System Road 74E, and will be closed at the second major creek crossing, according to a recent release. This area is located two miles from the intersection with Tex Canyon Road.
Visitors on foot may bypass the construction zone, but vehicles are not allowed access during this week. Cyprus Park, Bathtub and Rucker Forest Camp will also be inaccessible to vehicles while construction takes place.
