ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

From state champion to author.

That’s the road traveled by Canyon del Oro High School 2011 graduate David Catalano.

The interior lineman has just published his first book titled Knights, Pirates, Outlaws, and One Big Happy Ending.

Catalano plans to donate all the profits of the book towards cancer care for low income families.

He was a member of two Dorado teams that played for state championships including the 2009 squad that beat Sabino to finish first in Division 4A.

Catalano went on to play three seasons at San Jose State including an appearance in 2012 Military Bowl.

Upon graduating from San Jose State last winter, he opted to return to Tucson and complete his final season of eligibility for the Arizona Wildcats while pursuing his master’s degree in counseling.

Catalano worked his way on to the depth chart thanks to injuries and solid play during Fall Camp but missed most of the season after suffering an injury in the Wildcats win over Northern Arizona.

The book can be purchased at Amazon.com.
