MLS Preseason kicks off in Tucson

Major League Soccer preseason is back in Tucson for the sixth time as teams prepare to kick start their 2016 campaign beginning with the arrival of Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, Jan. 23.

This is Sporting Kansas City's fifth consecutive MLS preseason in the Old Pueblo, arriving with a few days' lead on other participants. The defending 2015 U.S. Open Cup champions head into preseason with newly signed MLS veteran Brad Davis of the U.S. Men's National Team.

The 2015 MLS Cup champion Portland Timbers will also join in the MLS preseason festivities, facing off against their Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC.

Half of the all the teams in Major League Soccer will be staying and training in Tucson for the MLS Preseason and 5th annual Desert Diamond Cup. Over half of all preseason matches played this year will be in Tucson.

Shortly after Sporting Kansas City, the rest of the MLS Preseason teams begin arriving in force:
