A Player's Program: USC

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

After defeating the UCLA Bruins 81-75 on Friday evening, the No. 17 Arizona Wildcats will host the No. 23 USC Trojans on Sunday night. Sunday’s meeting is the middle game of a three-game home stretch for UA inside the McKale Center. The two teams will hit the hardwood at 6 p.m. (MST) on FOX Sports 1.

The Wildcats are coming off a victory against UCLA on Friday evening, which saw UA erase a 10-point second-half deficit to earn a 81-75 victory. Arizona closed out the game with a 12-5 run in the final 3:23. Parker Jackson-Cartwright finished with a career-high 16 points in his second career start in the victory over the Bruins.

The last time these two teams met they played the longest game in Arizona history. The quadruple-overtime thriller in Los Angeles on Jan. 9 was the most over times ever played by an Arizona team. It was the second-longest game in Pac-12 history following Cal and Oregon’s five-overtime game during the 1976-77 season.

Sunday’s meeting between the Wildcats and the Trojans is the first with both teams ranked in the AP Top 25 since the No. 22 USC Trojans defeated the No. 19 Arizona Wildcats on Feb. 15, 2007 in Tucson.

Arizona has a record of 16-12 in games played on Valentine’s Day in program history and will look to erase back-to-back losses on Feb. 14 under head coach Sean Miller.

By erasing UCLA’s 10-point lead in the second half in its win on Friday, Arizona has now negated deficits of ten or more points in four different games this season. Wildcats came roaring back in a trio of road games at Gonzaga, UCLA and USC before doing it again in the McKale Center against the Bruins.

USC made a season-low two three-pointers and scored a season low in points in a 74-67 loss at Arizona State on Feb. 12. The Trojans also committed 17 turnovers and surrendered 16 offensive rebounds to ASU which twarted every Trojan challenge.
