Revolution win DDC '16

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Revolution has indeed been televised.

The New England Revolution won the sixth Desert Diamond Cup Saturday night with a 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew at Kino North Stadium.

It’s the first Tucson championship for New England. The Revs had appeared in the second Desert Diamond Cup Final back in 2012, losing to the L.A. Galaxy 4-2 in penalty kicks.

The Revolution’s lone goal came in the 20th minute when Teal Bunbury smacked home his own rebound off a save from Crew goal keeper Steve Clark.

Bunbury was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Crew star forward Kei Kamara was awarded the Copper Boot for tying Bunbury for the most goals scored in the tournament (3).

The 2016 Major League Soccer season starts Sunday, March 6.
