A Player's Program: #25 California preview

TUCSON, AZ -

The calendars have officially rolled over to March, and the No. 18 Arizona Wildcats are beginning their final week of the regular season inside the friendly confines of the McKale Center. UA will host the No. 25 California Golden Bears on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN in the final game before Senior Day on Saturday.

Arizona is coming off a 64-70 loss at Utah on Saturday afternoon. Allonzo Trier scored a game-high 23 points in the loss, which was the freshman’s seventh game of 20+ points in 22 appearances this season. The Wildcats wrapped up the month of February with a 5-2 mark and a record of 37-16 (.698) in the month under Sean Miller.

With a trio of blocks against the Utes, Kaleb Tarczewski has recorded 12 blocks in his last three games. The senior had blocked 16 shots in his previous 18 games this season.

UA enters Thursday’s game with a record of 9-3 in Pac-12 games played in the month of March with four wins in its last five regular season games played in March.

Fourth year seniors Gabe York and Kaleb Tarczewski will play in their final home games this week. Arizona has posted a record of 50-1 in the McKale Center during the duo’s four seasons in a Wildcat uniform, winning 24 of their 25 Pac-12 home games during that stretch.

The Wildcats have lost their seven games this season by a total of 27 points for an average margin of defeat of 3.86 points. UA has not lost a game by double digits in its last 18 losses going back to its 89-78 loss at USC on Feb. 27, 2013.

Ryan Anderson has grabbed 1,000 rebounds during his collegiate career, which includes 716 rebounds in three seasons at Boston College. In comparison, Arizona has only two 1,000 rebounders for a career in Al Fleming (1,190) and Bob Elliott (1,083).

Arizona has a record of 5-2 against nationally-ranked teams in the McKale Center during the Sean Miller era.
