D'backs' Pollock breaks elbow

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Diamondbacks centerfielder A.J. Pollock fractured his right elbow Friday night sliding into home plate during the team’s 2nd to last Spring Training game.

Manager Chip Hale indicated after the contest that there is no timetable for the all-star's return and that the elbow will require surgery.

Pollock was playing in his first Major League exhibition game since March 8 due to issues with his elbow.

Prior to the re-injury, Pollock had doubled home a run in the contest which Arizona won 7-4.

He was hoping to be available for the team’s season-opener on Monday against the Colorado Rockies but now the Diamondbacks' leadoff hitter will likely miss several months of the season.
