TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

3rd-ranked Desert Christian Baseball tuned up for their Division IV showdown with Joy Christian by shutting out San Miguel 10-0 Saturday.

The Eagles (17-3) continued their dominance at the field they call home on the school’s Wrightstown campus. Desert Christian has not lost there since April 2013.

They will travel to Grand Canyon University on Monday for their match up against Glendale Joy Christian (26-1). That will be followed on Wednesday by a date at Pueblo.

Desert Christian at 7-0 in Section play has a one-game lead over the Warriors.

The Eagles are attempting to bring home their fourth consecutive state championship. They have won 64 of their last 65 AIA power-point games.

Meanwhile #4 Sahuaro Softball shut out the 7th ranked team in Division I, Mesa Red Mountain 5-0.

The Cougars (19-7) won for the eighth consecutive game thanks to 12 strikes out by junior pitcher Lexy Coons.

Jasmin Lopez homered for Sahuaro. Sophomores Robin Opple and Danielle Jamieson each drove in a pair of runs.

The Cougars sit atop Division II Section I holding a one-game lead over Tucson High with three games left in the regular season.
