TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Ron Ratkevich, co-owner of Tucson Mineral and Gem World, said he got quite the surprise when he checked out the store on Saturday, April 23.

“I went in shock, there was this empty space right in front of me which held these three valuable antiquities,” he said.

Ratkevich said three very old and valuable pieces of history disappeared.

He said three human skulls, all with incredible historical value, were taken the night before.

Ratkevich said the oldest came from a gladiator who died in the Coliseum in Rome 2,500 years ago. The second skull, which still had a metal ax embedded in it, came from a Spanish Conquistador who was killed during the Pueblo Revolt of 1541. The third was from a Mexican soldier who was shot in the head during Santa Anna's battle for the Alamo.

He said they had been sitting on display in his store for the past 54 years and he never had any intentions of selling them.

“They are devil worshipers or somebody wants it displayed or they knew someone that could fence it, someone who could make a lot from it, you can make up any scenario who knows what goes through the minds of these crazy people,” he said.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the skulls is asked to call the Pima County Sheriff's Office. Ratkevich is offering a $2,000 reward.
