TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Cienega Boys Volleyball coach Heather Mott says that her #2 ranked Bobcats don’t necessarily have a high volleyball IQ but they certainly make up for that with their energy and intensity.

CHS heads to Sierra Vista on Tuesday with an outright Section title on their mind. The Bobcats (24-10, 7-0) could still finish in a tie for first place if they lose their finale to the Colts

A win last Thursday over Rincon-University helped Cienega claim one of the section's two automatic bids to the post-season tournament. They have not lost this season in divisional play (15-0).

Rincon (17-11, 6-1) will face Sahuaro (16-6, 6-1) also on Tuesday with the winner of that match claiming a share of the Section title if Cienega falters and regardless of what the Bobcats do, the section's 2nd automatic bid.

All three teams are likely to make the state tournament with the loser of the Sahuaro-Rincon match receiving an at-large bid.

The Bobcats have fallen on hard times in the state tournament since making back-to-back trips to the Final Four in 2007 and 2008. Cienega has lost their last six postseason matches, including an upset at the hands of Gilbert two years ago when as the #2 seed the Bobcats fell in five sets on their home court.
