I'm John Fife with "Yes on Prop 123."

Over the last eight years, we have seen educator salaries and wages frozen. This is happening right here in Tucson, where I have taught social studies for 25 years, and all over the state. As a result, there is a teacher exodus from Arizona to states that choose to properly fund their schools.

Passing Proposition 123 guarantees $3.5 billion in new money for our schools. This makes it possible to retain staff and begin to attract great teachers back to Arizona. Prop 123 is the first step towards smaller class sizes, new textbooks, well-maintained classrooms and a better education for our students.

The current situation is not sustainable. Every day, educators are forced to make compromises that we hope will minimize the impact of low school funding on our students. But we are quickly running out of options in the classroom and we need your help.

We have Prop 123 because our schools and teachers fought the state for more money for five long years. Now it is up to us to vote to help our schools and benefit our students this year and continue to make a difference over the next decade.

On May 17, we can send a clear message that Arizona voters value public education and our teachers, and, most of all, our students. I'm John Fife. Please join me in voting "Yes" on Prop 123.
