Witt twins named 2016 All-Americans

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona’s No.1 duo of Madison and McKenna Witt have been named the 2016 AVCA All-Americans. The Witt twins posted a 26-4 record for the overall season, an 8-0 home record and won the first 17 matches of the season.

Madison and McKenna competed in the Pac-12 Pairs Championship match against USC's Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes in Los Angeles, Calif. The Witts battled in a competitive match but posted a runner up finish.  

The duo holds an 8-3 record against the top 10 teams in the nation. Some of their most notable victories have come against the number one pairs from, No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 Pepperdine, No. 7 Georgia State, No. 9 Long Beach State and No. 10 LSU, with its loses to No. 1 USC and No. 3 UCLA.

The Witt twins were also selected onto the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team and contributed to the first year in Arizona Sand Volleyball history that the team constructed a 20-win season. The Wildcats now hold a (20-7) record to end the season. Arizona has been ranked in the top-10 for their entire 2015-2016 campaign and ended the season holding the No. 6 spot.

Eight different schools are represented in this year’s class. This is the first year an honorable mention team has been announced.
